Deal
The Waldorf Iridium Core is without a doubt an insanely powerful synthesizer – and it’s now more affordable than ever! This week’s edition of Synth Deals also includes a fantastic deal on the small but mighty Korg Minilogue XD, and an equally great offer from IK Multimedia.
Waldorf Iridium Core: Wavetables are just the Beginning
The Waldorf Iridium Core is a compact 12-voice desktop synth that packs a punch! With three oscillators per voice, each of which offers a choice of five different synthesis methods, the Iridium Core contains the same sonic building blocks as the mighty Quantum. In contrast to the Quantum, however, it boasts dual digital filters with a choice of configurations and modes. Modulation is also plentiful with no less than six LFOs, six envelopes and a massive matrix with 40 slots.
In addition to Waldorf’s signature wavetable engine, the Iridium Core offers virtual-analog waveforms, granular sampling, and the unique and powerful Resonator and Kernel synthesis engines. It’s truly a sound designer’s dream!
The Waldorf Iridium Core is now on sale at Thomann* for just $1550 / £1477 / €1699.
Korg Minilogue XD: Compact and Extremely Versatile
The Korg Minilogue XD should not be underestimated! This compact 4-voice synth is already a modern classic with its combination of analog synthesis and a versatile digital multi-engine oscillator. The latter allows you to load various oscillator models by Korg and many creative 3rd-party developers. This means that the sonic possibilities of the Minilogue XD are almost limitless and don’t end with classic subtractive analog synthesis. That said, its 2-pole filter with a beefy drive circuit does contribute a great deal to its sound. Because it is so easy to use, the Korg Minilogue XD is also a great synth for beginners!
Modulation is another stronghold of the Minilogue XD. In addition to an LFO and a pair of envelopes, you can use the polyphonic step sequencer as a modulation source. Recording automation is quick and easy. Moreover, the Minilogue XD offers a powerful built-in effects section with modulation effects, delay, and reverb.
The Korg Minilogue XD is on sale at Thomann* for $525 / £499 / €579.
The IK Multimedia UNO Synth Pro X is arguably one of the most versatile analog synths in its price range. With three oscillators with PWM, sync, FM, and ring modulation, as well as dual state-variable filters with no less than 24 modes, this compact desktop synth offers plenty of sound design possibilities. And although it isn’t truly polyphonic, you can use its three oscillators to play 3-note chords in paraphonic mode.
In addition to this, the UNO Synth Pro X includes a 64-step sequencer that doubles as a powerful modulation source with 48 automation parameters. There’s also a well-stocked FX section with three slots for reverb, delay, and modulation effects. This compact desktop synth packs a punch!
The IK Multimedia UNO Synth Pro X is on sale at Thomann* for $377 / £359 / €414.
