This week on Guitar Gear Gems, we check out the release of Slash’s sixth solo album, titled Orgy of the Damned. Then we look at the reissued and revamped Diamond Vibrato, and finally, we look at Walrus Audio’s new Canvas Power range of massive power supplies!
Orgy of the Damned
Slash has just officially released his latest album, entitled Orgy of the Damned, and it is out on Gibson Records. The album features twelve tracks that are reworking of classic blues songs.

Blues for 2024
I’m surprised that it has taken until 2024 for the ‘Cat in the Hat’ to record a blues album, as his rock licks are full of blues pentatonic phrasing and melodies. Possibly an excellent listen whilst driving in your car or at the weekend when you want to revisit your blues guitar licks.
The Slash Machine
The new limited-run Gibson Slash 1963 ES-335 was just announced, plus the recent release of the Jessica Les Paul Standard, so he has been busy!
You’ve got to love Slash. The man spent most of his younger years trying to test his immortality with drink and drugs; now, in 2024, he is a marketing machine and all about the Benjamins!
Diamond Vibrato
SolidGoldFX acquired Diamond, and the company is now reissuing updated designs of their classic effects pedals. This latest reissued Vibrato * pedal offers an all-analogue, true-pitch sound with several modern features and a design optimised for pedalboards.
It is more compact than the original and has also been upgraded somewhat.

Bucket Brigade
The design uses the MN3007 bucket brigade chip, which imparts much of the overall tone within the circuit: Controls Level, Speed, Chorus, Depth, and a Jazz switch for additional tonal shaping.
Compandor
It also features the Compandor Circuit from the Memory Land Jr. delay pedal, offering a smoother, clearer vibrato with less noise and distortion. It also has a momentary or latching doubler function for an extra burst of vibrato speed.
There are some nice enhancements and classic tones in this purple pedal.
Walrus Audio Canvas
The new Canvas Power power supplies from Walrus Audio are available as the Canvas 5, Canvas 8, Canvas 15, and Canvas 22, depending on the needs and size of your pedal board. The model number determines the number of power outputs.

Specifications
Each output of the Canvas Power power supply provides up to 500 mA of quiet, isolated and clean 9 V current, which is pretty impressive. There is also a 4-LED power meter with variable 9-18 V outputs, mounting options, and specially manufactured barrel cables that fit even the narrowest pedalboard layouts.
How Much Power do you need?
The Walrus Audio Canvas Power are also pedalboard-friendly thanks to the brick form factor. However, they have an external DC brick, which is annoying. The design also features a USB-C, which could be helpful.
Indeed, the larger models are aimed at power users and massive pedalboard rigs. The complete Walrus Audio Canvas Power series is now available at Thomann*.
