We may have just got our first live photo of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, although only a small portion of the device can be seen. A reliable tipster posted an image of a camera ring saying it’s the official camera design of the upcoming Samsung foldable. The lens has circular grooves around it without a shiny metallic outline as on the Galaxy Z Fold 5.
Leak reveals new camera ring design for the Galaxy Z Fold 6
The image in question comes from reputed X tipster Ice Universe, who has an excellent track record of accurate Samsung leaks. They posted an “exclusive” photo of the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s rear camera ring, suggesting that they already have access to the unannounced Samsung foldable. The company has seemingly redesigned the camera ring as it no longer has the metallic outline also seen on the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
The latest leak doesn’t reveal anything else about the upcoming foldable. Rumors suggest the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will feature the same camera setup as its predecessor, at least hardware-wise. Samsung could be working on improving its camera software for better image quality. Elsewhere, the device might get display improvements that reduce the crease while making it stronger and more scratch-resistant.
The new foldable is also getting a slight body redesign and a titanium frame. It is now boxier and wider, leaked renders have revealed. Samsung has also made the Galaxy Z Fold 6 thinner than its predecessor and reduced its weight a little. There may not be many other notable upgrades in terms of hardware specs. The battery capacity, charging speed, and IP rating may all remain unchanged from the 2023 model.
The Flip model may get a major camera upgrade
While the Galaxy Z Fold 6 appears destined to feature an unchanged camera setup, its Flip sibling could be in for a major camera upgrade. Samsung is reportedly fitting the Galaxy Z Flip 6 with a 50MP primary rear camera instead of a 12MP shooter. This might significantly improve its image quality. Samsung’s foldables have always lacked a solid camera setup. This might be a step in the right direction.
The new foldables are expected to break cover at the next Galaxy Unpacked event, which might take place on July 10 in Paris, France. The event could bring a few other products, including the Galaxy Watch 7 series and Galaxy Buds 3 Pro. Samsung might also announce price and availability details for the Galaxy Ring, its first-gen smart ring with comprehensive health monitoring capabilities.
