UDO reveal the Super 8, a 16-voice hybrid analogue synth in the same vein as the Super 6 and Super Gemini.
UDO Audio Super 8
Superbooth24 has just started and it’s already turning out to be the synthesizer event of the century. Kicking the show off is UDO Audio with a brand new instrument, Super 8.
Positioned between the Super 6 and flagship Super Gemini, it’s a 16-voice binaural stereo analogue hybrid polysynth (say that three times fast!) with all of the bells and whistles you would expect from the series. Dual layer, it has independent effects per layer.
UDO is saying it has the same sound and analogue hybrid feel as the Super 6 and Gemini.
Playability and Performance
UDO wanted to make something a little more portable than the Gemini but still with the same kind of power. Focusing on playability and performance, it has a polyphonic aftertouch keyboard – in fact, the same one as the Gemini.
Future Upgrades
According to the Sonicstate video (below), UDO Audio may eventually do a 20-voice upgrade for it.
Price and Availability
This is early information and we’ll update as we get it.
UDO Audio’s Super 8 will be available soon. Price will be €3,600/£3,100.
Supertouch 49
Speaking of upgrades, UDO also have a limited edition poly aftertouch keyboard upgrade coming for Super 6 owners called Supertouch 49. You can do the upgrade yourself, apparently, it having only one connector.
That will be around £400 including VAT, and will debut on June 3 along with a software upgrade.
