Samsung‘s Battery AI tool may arrive sooner than expected. The company reportedly plans to introduce it with the Galaxy Z Fold 6, and presumably the Galaxy Z Flip 6, in a couple of months. Designed to improve its phones’ battery performance using AI, the tool was initially expected to arrive with the Galaxy S25 series early next year.
Samsung plans to launch Battery AI with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 & Flip 6
Last week, a rumor surfaced that Samsung is working on a new AI feature called Battery AI for Galaxy phones. It helps improve the battery life of devices by intelligently managing various system processes. Details were scarce but the source said the tool extends the battery life by 5-10% without affecting the performance.
The same source has now shed more light on Samsung’s Battery AI. They can “confirm” that the company plans to offer the tool on the Galaxy Z Fold 6. It will extend the battery backup of the new foldable by up to 30 minutes. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 might also feature the tool. Since the Flip model has a smaller battery, it may get a smaller extension of battery life.
We still don’t have details about how Battery AI will work. Software programs to improve the battery life of devices aren’t new. Even Samsung’s Galaxy phones boast such tools. However, most of those limit the device’s performance. They prevent the device from operating at its full potential, thus lowering its power consumption and extending the battery life.
Samsung’s Battery AI will seemingly work differently. It will likely use AI to eliminate unnecessary background tasks and optimize the performance to lower power consumption. If the company plans to include the feature on the new foldables, we may soon hear more about it.
Older Galaxy devices may also get this feature
Battery AI may be part of Samsung’s Galaxy AI suite of on-device AI features for flagship smartphones and tablets. The company introduced Galaxy AI with One UI 6.1 on the Galaxy S24 series. Several older models picked up the new AI features with the One UI 6.1 update.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 should run One UI 6.1.1 out of the box, with Battery AI and possibly a few more additions. Samsung will probably bring the new battery-saving tool to the likes of Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy S24 series with the One UI 6.1.1 update. The Galaxy S25 series should also have Battery AI out of the box.
