The next Xbox Showcase and Call of Duty Direct happen on June 9

Microsoft has confirmed the date of its 2024 Xbox Games Showcase, which will take place on June 9 followed by a Call of Duty Direct. The Xbox Showcase is Microsoft’s big show every year where it reveals new and upcoming game titles.

Like previous years, Microsoft will livestream the showcase on a Sunday and it will begin at 10AM Pacific Standard Time. So it’ll be late enough in the morning that West Coast viewers shouldn’t miss it. At the same time, it’ll be 1PM Eastern, so if you live on the East Coast it’s right in the middle of the day.

This will be Microsoft’s first showcase since it acquired Activision Blizzard. As such, it’ll feature announcements from across Microsoft’s entire portfolio of first-party studios. In addition, Microsoft says there will be some announcements surrounding third-party studios as well. “This will also be our first Showcase featuring games from our portfolio of studios across Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda and Xbox Game Studios, in addition to titles from our third-party partners,” Microsoft said in its official Xbox blog post.

Considering the time of year and what’s been confirmed coming later this year, viewers should expect to see more information on the upcoming expansion for Diablo IV. Microsoft is also likely to share more details about the upcoming Starfield DLC, which is coming later this year as well.

The Call of Duty Direct will follow the Xbox Showcase and feature the 2024 franchise title

Last year, Microsoft held a big Starfield Direct on June 11 after the main showcase, focusing on a ton of gameplay footage and new details about the upcoming space-based RPG from Bethesda. The nearly hour-long Direct delved deep into the game’s many systems, character progression, and more. Giving players an accounting of what was to come when the game launched last September.

This year’s Direct will feature the 2024 Call of Duty title. Now confirmed to be set in the Black Ops franchise, Microsoft doesn’t actually name what the title will be. In fact it doesn’t even name Call of Duty as the game featured in the Direct. However, fans will notice the Black Ops-style artwork in Microsoft’s teaser. Other telling details like the font, as well as the redacted bits of text make this a pretty dead giveaway.

As reported by The Verge, “people familiar with the matter” also confirm that Call of Duty is in fact the game Microsoft will be showcasing.

The showcase will stream live across social channels

If you’re already blocking out time to watch the showcase and the direct, you’ll be able to view the stream across Microsoft’s social channels. The showcase will stream live on YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook via the official Xbox accounts. It will also stream on the Xbox ASL Twitch channel.
