Currently, when you want to search for a specific contact on WhatsApp, you have to sift through a lengthy list of all the contacts saved on your device. WhatsApp is developing a new Favorites tab feature that will streamline this tiring process. You will be able to group all your favorite contacts together, allowing you to access them quickly whenever needed.
Accessing your favorite WhatsApp contact has never been easier!
WABetaInfo has spotted a new feature in WhatsApp beta for the Android 2.24.7.18 update that will allow you to manage your favorite contacts. In this update, WhatsApp is adding a new Favorites tab in its Settings menu.
As the name suggests, this tab will contain a list of your favorite contacts and groups. The reason for WhatsApp to add this tab is to make it easy for you to access all your favorite contacts and groups within a few taps.
The Favorites tab will also allow you to remove and reorder contacts. This means you will be able to prioritize particular contacts among your favorite contacts. It’s important to note that when you move any contact to the Favorite section, that person will not receive any notification about it.
This could be a rather useful feature
No doubt, the Favorites tab feature will allow you to access your favorite contacts and groups faster than before. But don’t you think you already have a similar feature on WhatsApp — Archived Chats?
WhatsApp’s Archived Chats feature allows you to hide your chats from the regular WhatsApp chat screen. This means that the archived chats will not appear in your regular WhatsApp chat tab. But don’t you think you can use this feature for your favorite contacts as well? You simply need to move all the contacts and groups that you access regularly to the archive chat section, and then you will be able to access them within a few taps. This is similar to what the upcoming favorite tab feature will be doing.
In addition to the archive chat feature, WhatsApp also allows you to pin chats. With this feature, you can pin your favorite contacts at the top of the WhatsApp chat window, which will allow you to access them quickly. This is again similar to what the upcoming feature will be doing. However, WhatsApp currently only allows you to pin three chats, so the upcoming feature might have an advantage in that regard, as it is still unclear how many contacts you can have in the favorite tabs.
Nevertheless, WhatsApp’s Favorites tab feature is still under development and is not even available in the beta version of the app. It will be interesting to see how WhatsApp differentiates it from its archive chat and pin feature, so that it doesn’t end up becoming a feature that’s just cluttering the app experience.
