PlayStation brings trophies to PC with Ghost of Tsushima port

Sony has announced that it’s bringing PlayStation trophies to PC alongside the release of Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut. This will be the first time any of its PC ports have supported the PlayStation trophy system. Much like achievements for Xbox and Steam players, trophies are an extra carrot to chase for PlayStation console owners. For those who like added replayability, there’s added excitement from trophies being split up into rarity categories. Ultra rare, very rare, rare, and common. Trophies are also split up into bronze, silver, gold, and platinum, which are often associated with their rarity.

Trophy hunting gives players something to look forward to even after beating a game. And they can be somewhat of a flex among friends. Sony doesn’t mention whether or not trophies carry over from your progress on console even if you sign in with that PSN account. It does mention though that Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut, and future games, will have support for Achievements on Steam and the Epic Games Store. Many of these will probably overlap with trophies. But it might still give you something a little extra to acquire.

PlayStation trophies on PC are part of the new PlayStation overlay

Trophies aren’t the only new thing coming over. Sony has a new PlayStation overlay that will be used in all future games as well. With the new overlay you’ll also be able to see friends, settings, and even your PSN profile. It looks basically identical to how it looks on the PS5 so PS5 owners should be pretty familiar with the setup.

You can access this overlay from in the game too, though how depends on how you’re playing. If you’re using a DualSense or DualShock 4 controller, you can bring up the overlay by going to the in-game menu. If you’re playing on mouse and keyboard though, you can bring this up with the Shift + F1 short key. Which is no doubt a little faster.

Sony reveals PC requirements for Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut

Ghost of Tsushima is a beautiful game even on PS4, and it got a significant improvement in visuals with the bump to PS5. There’s no doubt that its PC port will open up some truly gorgeous graphics though. If you’re wondering about what the spec requirements will be, Sony has just revealed them.

The company says you’ll need at least an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 or an AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT GPU, as well as an Intel Core i5-11400 or AMD Ryzen 5 5600 CPU if you want to run the graphics at Very High. Which is going to allow the game to run at 4K resolution and at least 60 frames per second. You’ll also need 16GB of RAM and at least 75GB of SSD space. That being said, the minimum requirements are much more manageable with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 980 GPU and a 7th Gen Intel Core i3 CPU. Or the AMD equivalents of those. You’ll also only need 8GB of RAM.

Keep in mind these are recommended hardware specs. There’s going to be some variance in there so this isn’t necessarily a hard rule. Just something to use as a baseline. The game will also have support for ultra widescreen. Additionally, there will be support for NVIDIA DLSS 3 and AMD FSR 3, as well as Intel XeSS.
