The latest offering from the Danish indie book publisher, The Minimoog Book, pays tribute to the synthesizer that changed music forever.

Bjooks have built a solid reputation in recent years for their comprehensive and luxurious books on synthesizers and their latest project, The Minimoog Book, continues that tradition.

The Minimoog Book

The Moog Minimoog is often credited as being the synth that started it all. Synthesizers had existed long before the Minimoog arrived on the scene. Those early synthesizers filled entire rooms and were often only found in University laboratories.

What the Minimoog did was democratise synthesizers. By making it simple, intuitive and, above all, portable, Moog lay the foundation for everything that was to come. And the latest publication by Bjooks aims to tell the entire story, from the very first examples right up to the present day.

Small Synth, Big Names

Authored by renowned journalist and music historian, JoE Silva, the book opens with a forward by Rush’s Geddy Lee, himself an accomplished synthesist. Joe started researching the history of the Minimoog as far back as 2010, quickly noticing how pervasive and incredibly widespread it was in its use.

The book features interviews with the likes of Emerson, Wakeman, Corea, Visconti, Devo, Kraftwerk and Gary Numan. As you will expect with a Bjooks publication, the photography is both plentiful and exquisite.

The Minimoog Book looks set to be another essential tome on the most iconic and influential synth of all time.

How, Where and When
