Harley Benton has announced the TravelMate and the Bluetooth-enabled TravelMate-E. Both are lightweight carbon fibre designs, perfect for travel.
TravelMate
These new carbon fibre TravelMate and TravelMate-E are Harley Benton’s latest addition to their ever-expanding range of affordable guitars. This rigid, lightweight material is a massive bonus for a travel guitar, as it won’t be affected by extreme temperature changes or humidity. They have used it for the neck, fretboard, nut, and main body.
Lightweight
The TravelMate weighs 1.5 kg, and the E-model is 1.7 kg, which is very light and makes them an excellent solution for musicians on the move. Their lightweight and strength will make them an attractive option for many.
TravelMate-E
The TravelMate-E version has a pickup and an onboard SP1 speaker with effects. These include reverb and modulation, a valuable selection for an acoustic-style guitar. It has buttons for switching the SP1 on and off, connecting to the in-house app and activating the integrated effects. I’m impressed that this extra technology doesn’t push the price up too much.
Enya
Harley Benton has launched the Enya app to accompany the TravelMate-E, which is available for iOS and Android devices. The app connects via Bluetooth and allows control over the effect settings. A USB port next to the guitar output jack socket charges the internal battery.
These models each come with a gig bag, so they are ready to travel.
Both models are available now. The Harley Benton TravelMate costs €179 at Thomann. The TravelMate-E model with pickup costs €249 at Thomann.
