The Walrus Audio Fundamental Ambient is a new reverb effect and part of their ongoing Fundamental Series of pedals.
Fundamental Ambient
This new Walrus Audio Fundamental Ambient offers what they describe as an expansive pillowy reverb with three atmospheric modes. It is the newest in the Fundamental Series of pedals and is the second reverb effect in the lineup.
Lush, Deep, Reverbs
Expect pad-like atmospheres and plenty of ambient reverb tails to play with. The pedal has three modes with enough variety to keep ambient reverb fans happy.
- Deep: Described as a dark ambient reverb with an additional low octave for added depth
- Lush: A lighter, breathy, more expansive reverb that also includes an ultra-long sustain
- Haze: This is a far more textured, lo-fi reverb with the addition of distortion, sample rate reduction, and a resonant bandpass tone control
Sliders
As with all the pedals in this series, the Fundamental Ambient comes with slider controls rather than rotary knobs. These are labelled Decay, Tone, and Mix, allowing for simple control over the three reverb effects on offer. A three-position switch allows the user to select which reverb mode they want to use and is labelled Deep/Lush/Haze.
Simplicity
It has a gloriously simple design that is part of its charm. The reverb effects are exactly what you might expect from a pedal of this kind and the price point is very attractive as well. Overall, this is a great addition to the Walrus Audio Fundamental Series and one that will no doubt have a lot of fans. At this affordable price point, it is a great ambient reverb effect to make room for on your pedalboard.
