The Cort G250 SE is a value-conscious bolt-on guitar with very nice specifications. It is available in four finishes and an HSS pickup configuration.
Cort G250 SE
Cort has managed to keep the price down on the G250 SE yet make it a flexible, workhorse guitar. The body is made from basswood, and it comes with a bolt-on roasted maple neck and matching fretboard with 22 frets and dot inlays. The neck has a satin finish, so it should feel great when playing.
On launch, they are available in four finishes; Black*, Ocean Blue Grey*, Vivid Burgundy* and Olive Dark Green*.
Voice Tone Pickups
These models come in an HSS pickup configuration using Cort’s new Voiced Tone VTH-59 bridge humbucker and VTS-63 single-coil models. A push-pull tone knob potentiometer then complements these and allows for the humbucker’s dual coils to be split into single-coil. Cort describes the pickups as offering a “big robust acoustic sound of the guitar with modern clarity, transparency and vintage warmth.” I haven’t heard them in action yet, so I cannot comment. However, they have access to great pickups across their guitar ranges, so I expect them to be good quality.
2-Point
Another good feature is the 2-point trem system with bent steel saddles, an in-house model. It combines a modern style and quality materials, so it should be a decent bridge for this affordable model.
Verdict
These are nice-looking modern S-style guitars. The colour choices are good, and they are very affordable. It will be interesting to see what new owners report once they have them. Cort has a solid reputation for making playable instruments that do not cost the earth—one to watch in 2024.
Available to order at Thomann now: Black*, Ocean Blue Grey*, Vivid Burgundy* and Olive Dark Green*.
