PlayStation gamers looking to expand their PS5 console’s storage may be interested to know that this week IRDM announced the launch of a new PlayStation 5 SSD in the form of PCIe M.2 NVMe SSD storage. The controller used is a high-tech eight channel Phison PS5018-E18.
It is compatible version of NVMe protocol 1.4. IRDM PRO SLIM is available in three capacities: 1, 2 and 4 TB. This range allows choosing the right SSD for the user’s needs and expectations, and reduces the risks associated with filling the drive too quickly with games, programs, or data.

The IRDM PRO SLIM is not only for PlayStation 5 consoles but also provides storage solutions for desktop and laptop computers, both for home and professional use. Unlike its predecessor, the new drive is offered without a heatsink, making it 100% compliant with Sony’s requirements for PlayStation 5 console drives.
The maximum read and write speeds are 7000/6850 MB/s, respectively. The PCIe 4 x4 NVMe interface provides twice the speed of older 3 x4 solutions. The memory speed is also affected by the DRAM buffer of up to 2 GB, thanks to which the drive works stably even with heavy use.
