At the heart of the UPK-M2 multitool is a rotating bolt, which is a characteristic mechanism. A word of caution when opening the UPK-M2 multi-tool knife. You should avoid operating the bolt lever with your left hand while holding the handle with your right hand. If you are not fully familiar with the movement of the bolt lever, this maneuver can result in accidental slippage. The bolt lever interferes with the slot while sawing, causing it to partially retract. This reduction in grip can allow your left hand to slide toward the open and closed blade – an unfortunate chain of events that could result in injuries. Remember, the blade is incredibly sharp!”

The UPK-M1 was the original knife model created by UPKnife to launch the bolt action system and was limited to 100 pieces although fewer were issued due to higher quality standards. The first 21 knives were produced without serial numbers, except for 0009 which was marked on order, All knives numbered 0022 and above have a unique serial number.
